KONA, Hawaii: Hilo had its meeting last week, now its Kona’s turn.
Part two in a series of meetings to inform the public about the new driver license requirements will be held on Thursday, June 7 at the Liquor Control Conference Room at the West Hawaii Civic Center. The meetings are being held in order to help reduce the wait time and ensure that everyone comes in with the correct documents.
From the Hawaii County Office of the Mayor:
Federal and State mandates now prohibit the issuance of a driver license or permit to any person who is not legally authorized to be in the United States. Individuals applying for or renewing a Hawai‘i driver’s license or permit are required to provide proof of identity, date of birth, Social Security Number, and legal presence. Proof of an individual’s legal presence includes a U.S. birth certificate, U.S. passport or other documents.
The County added, “we apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we comply with these new Federal and State mandates.”
