FERN FOREST, Hawaii: Firefighters from the Volcano district battled a fire on 11-2000 Jungle King Avenue in the Fern Forst Subdivision on Sunday afternoon.
According to a fire department dispatch, one section of an unpermitted, single story home was actively burning when first responders arrived at around 4:45 p.m. The metal roof of the building was partially collapsed and the female occupant, identified as Stephanie Moreno, was out of the home.
Moreno told investigators she was “uncertain of how the fire started”, fire officials say.
A dispatch describes the situation at the scene:
Upon arrival, HFD units extended over 300′ of supply line to structure. Tank water from E-19 utilized to extinguish fire in 12′ x 12′ bedroom. Fire damage confined to room of origin. Home owner not present.
The fire department saved an estimated $10,000 in damages to the home, said to be owned by Charles Wundt.
