HONOKAA, Hawaii: The office of Hawaii County Council Chair Dominic Yagong has passed along a flyer promoting a candlelight vigil in remembrance of three Honokaa High School graduates killed on Big Island roads.
Rocky P. Pactol, Kauakeakeokaua Lactaoen, and Brocky Aleka Rapoza will be memorialized at Honoka’a High School Park on Thursday, May 10. The event begins at 6:30 pm.
Lactaoen and Pactol were killed in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Queen Kaʻahumanu Highway and Kawaihae Road in South Kohala near midnight, early Sunday morning.
31-year-old Rapozo died in an April 4 crash while riding his motorcycle on Route 190 near the 14-mile marker in the South Kohala District.
“Kaha Danny Kaniela Akaka Jr. will preside over the vigil,” wrote Yagong, “and alumni singers will be performing in remembrance of our fellow Dragons. The community is welcomed to attend this healing vigil.”
