KONA, Hawaii: From the Hawaii County Police Department:
A Montana man apparently drowned Tuesday (April 10) in waters off Kona. The victim has been identified as 68-year-old Edward Woyciehowicz of Missoula, Montana.
Just before noon, Kona patrol officers responded to a report of a possible drowning at Kahalu‘u Beach Park. Upon arrival, they learned that a lifeguard had seen a man floating and had pulled him out of the water and begun cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. Fire Department personnel also responded and continued CPR.
They took him to Kona Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police do not suspect foul play. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
