HILO, Hawaii: Hawaii also joined the rest of the world in celebration of Easter this weekend.
Along the numerous sunrise services at houses of worship across the island, the tradition of the keiki egg hunt was continued….
Although in Hilo’s Wong Stadium on Good Friday, egg dash was more like it.
On cue, these kids charged the baseball outfield in a mad scramble to gather up as many eggs as possible. Adults were NOT invited to help this age group, who scooped up all the plastic eggs – many containing treats and candy – in a matter of just a few minutes.
The event also included pictures with the Easter bunny. There were also contests like Milk Drinking, Ice Cream Eating, and an Egg Fight.
This was the 19th year for the event, which was sponsored by the county’s Department of Parks and Recreation, Hilo Jaycees, the Hilo and Waiakiea High School Key Clubs, the Hilo and Waiakea Intermediate Builders, Hopaco, the Hawaii Police Department, Circle K, East Hawaii Kiwanis, the Hawaii Fire Department, and the Men of Pa’a.
