MAUNA KEA, Hawaii: Yesterday, we had a story on councilman Pete Hoffmann’s resolution at the county council requesting the use of TIGER funds for the completion of Saddle Road.
However, at a recent public hearing held in Waimea on the matter of redistricting, State Representative Cindy Evans says there is no need for concern, because according to her, the military has every intention of seeing the cross island road get finishing, and quickly.
The Central Federal Lands Highway Division awarded Kirkland Construction L.L.L.P. of Colorado the next phase of the Saddle Road improvement project on August 22nd, 2011.
Kirkland is slated to complete 9.6 miles of earthwork over two years. The groundbreaking for this project is slated for October 27th,2011.
NOTE: Aaron Stene reports that the groundbreaking for the Kona side of the project is October 24th, not October 27th, according to the update he received from the Hawaii Department Of Transportation.
