KOHALA COAST, Hawaii – 56-year-old woman almost had her handbag taken in the parking lot of Hapuna Beach State Park on Sunday, police report.
Sometime between 5:15 p.m. and 5:20 p.m., an unknown male tried to rob the woman in the upper parking lot area of the popular Kohala Coast beach.
The suspect is described as 5-foot-10 to 5-foot-11, slim with brown hair parted in the middle and wearing a white T-shirt and shorts, according to police.
Police say they would like to talk to a female whom the victim made contact with after the incident and to any other witnesses who may have been in the vicinity at the time of the robbery attempt. Police ask that witnesses or anyone else with information on this case call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.
Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
