Pu`uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park reports that is has almost fully recovered from the damage to the park grounds that was caused by the tsunami event of March 11.
On Monday, the park announced that for the first time since the tsunami event, the pu’uhonua grounds are now open to the public.
That means the areas that are now open to the public are Royal Grounds, Pu`uhonua, Picnic Area and 1871 inland Trail.
However, the Coastal Trail from the Picnic Area to the 1871 Trail junction, is still closed.
