HONOLULU – Hawaiian Airlines is celebrating its 7th consecutive year ranked as the nation’s number one airline for on-time performance, according to the Air Travel Consumer Report issued today by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for December and the full year 2010.
Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian’s president and CEO, noted, “Being the nation’s most punctual airline for seven straight years is a credit to the dedication of our employees, whose hard work drives this industry-leading performance day in and day out, year after year.”
Hawaiian arrived as scheduled an average of 92.5 percent for 2010 and led all carriers nationally in on-time performance in each month. In December, 87.6 percent of Hawaiian’s flights arrived on time.
Hawaiian also had the airline industry’s best overall score for fewest cancelled flights in 2010, ranking first in 10 of the 12 months as recorded in DOT’s monthly reports. Hawaiian had 55 flight cancellations out of 67,649 total flights during 2010, an average of approximately 0.1 percent for the year. In December, Hawaiian achieved the industry’s top ranking with nine cancellations out of 5,578 total flights, or approximately 0.2 percent.
