The uncertain future of the Volcano Skate Park took a more definitive turn on Thursday.
The Department of Parks and Recreation announced that the controversial skate park located next to the Cooper Center on Wright Road in Volcano is now closed until further notice due to quote “maintenance and safety concerns”.
The county recently set new hours for the skate park after the facility re-opened following repairs to damage caused by bicyclists.
Meanwhile, the Volcano community is preparing to tackle the controversies in a meeting on January 31st… among the issues raised are the costs to maintain the skate park, the structural integrity of the facility, and problems with alleged “loud music, vulgar language, drinking and drug use, and threats made to those trying to care for that facility.”
The Volcano community is being encouraged to come and be present to represent whatever their position might be on this issue.
