Hawaiian Ocean View residents can now easily take out their household rubbish on Saturdays.
The Hawaii County Department of Environmental Management has placed a temporary rubbish bin at Kahuku Park at the lower level on Paradise Circle Makai.
An attendant will be on duty during open houses, every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., beginning Nov. 20.
Only plastic-bagged, household-generated rubbish will be accepted. Commercial rubbish, metals or white goods (washers, dryers, refrigerators, etc.) will not be accepted at the Kahuku site. Materials for recycling should be taken to the Waiohinu or Waiea transfer stations.
This Kahuku Park rubbish bin site is a temporary location until a permanent transfer station is built in Ocean View. Negotiations for the purchase of land for the permanent transfer station are ongoing.
