One of the ships that pulled into Hilo Bay this weekend just completed the first leg of a ten year ocean voyage.

Arriving in the islands after an ocean voyage from San Diego, California, The Fyn Alee captain Ron Hendrixson and first mate Kevin Montoya found the trans pacific sail a test of seamanship and personal fortitude.

The vessel arrived on Friday in rough seas and 15 knots of win. The captain welcomed the Hilo rain that washed off the Fyn Alee’s salty coating. The voyagers got to rest their sea legs and got a traditional Hawaiian lei welcome from family in Hawaii.
