Hoku award winning artist Cyril Pahinui was among those keeping Hamakua Alive this weekend, adding his musical stylings to the day of fun, food and celebration – marking the windward coasts’s journay from Plantation days to diversification at the Paauhau Park.

Hawaii county councilman from Hamakua District – Dominic Yagong acted as Master of Ceremonies for the event, as he did the year before.

Local, families and visitors enjoyed the Hamakua Farmers Market which included local crafts, tastings, and local farmer’s produce.

The Hawaii Island School Garden Network was onhand, as were booths for agricultural education and locally grown products.

The day also offered children’s games and entertainment.
