By Stephanie Salazar
Hawaii Island police arrested and charged a 38-year-old Hilo man for robbery, when he allegedly tried to rob a downtown Hilo bank, leaving the bank with no money.
Police arrested Daniel Alcarez Wednesday after he agreed to meet with detectives. He was charged with robbery and held on $5,000 dollars bail.
Police say someone entered the bank on Kalakaua around 11 am on October 7th, passed a teller a note demanding money, then left without receiving any. No one was injured in the incident and no weapon was involved.
Police finally located their suspect, and arrested Alcarez on Wednesday. They were holding him pending a court hearing this week.
