12 year old Shaedon Quevedo returns to his hometown of Hilo after winning the championship at the 3rd Annual World International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships in Riverside, California.
Quevedo, considered to be another grappling prodigy from the Big Island, won the championship in Junior Rooster division for 12 year-old kids up to 80 pounds in two matches: the Gi – traditional jiu-jitsu uniform match – with a triangle choke and No-Gi competition when his opponent was disqualified for using an illegal move.
Quevedo, who was covered with lei by loving friends and family once he stepped off the plane, trains at the BJ Penn Academy in Hilo, home of the island’s “other” world famous prodigy.
