The following media release was issued by the Hawaii County Police Department:
Big Island police have arrested a 20-year-old Honoka’a man in connection with several crimes in the Kona area.
Rickie Andaya-Tabucbuc was originally arrested Tuesday (June 29) for abuse of a family member.
Police investigation determined that he and a juvenile were responsible for stealing four dirtbikes and breaking into and stealing cars in the Kona area between April 28 and June 23.
Wednesday night (June 30), detectives with the Area II Criminal Investigations Section charged Andaya-Tabucbuc with abuse of a family member, two counts of second-degree theft, four counts of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle and one count of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.
His bail was set at $15,000. Andaya-Tabucbuc was held at the Kona police cellblock pending his initial court appearance Thursday morning (July 1).
The investigation into the role of the juvenile is continuing.
