Pahala celebrated its coffee crop with a Ho’olaulea on Saturday. The event was a part of the 2010 Ka’u Coffee Festival.
Music, food, and of course, coffee, attracted hundreds to the grounds of the Pahala Community Center.
The day also featured processing demonstrations and coffee cupping. The 2010 Miss Ka’u Coffee and Miss Peaberry were on hand, and farm tours were given throughout the day.
A Ka’u Coffee recipe contest was also held.
The local brand of coffee is riding a wave of good press coming into the festival, as Rising Sun Farm of Ka’u won the 2010 Coffee of the Year in the Hawaii-USA category, at a recent Specialty Coffee Association of America competition.
