Concepcion, Chile – A 6.7 earthquake near the coast of central Chile did not produce a destructive, Pacific Ocean-wide tsunami, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
The center says Hawaii is not under any sort of tsunami advisory or threat.
The aftershock comes as Chile tries to recover from an 8.8 earthquake in February. The massive disaster caused an estimated $30 billion in damage to infrastructure, homes and industry, according to the government.
The February quake also generated a tsunami that created a scare in Hawaii. Luckily for the islands, the tsunami was not destructive.
