Hilo, Hawaii – Video by David Corrigan
Thousands took a walk in the park on Saturday morning… during the 13th annual “Start! Heart Walk and Health Fair” in Hilo.
The non-competitive stroll around Liliuokalani Gardens was designed to bring public awareness to physical activity and a heart-healthy lifestyle, while at the same time raising critical dollars to fund the life-saving mission of the American Heart Association.
Hawaii’s number 1 killer is heart disease, and the number three killer is stroke, according to the event website.
The event, which was once again well attended by county officials and employees this year, also offered education booths, food, and local music, besides the exercise.
