A giant brush fire burned hundreds of grassland acreage along Waikoloa road on Wednesday.
This video was captured by Kona videographer David Schlesinger, who happened to have his camera with him when he was in the area at the time the fire broke out.
The situation forced the closure of Waikoloa Road between Waikoloa Village and the Highway 190 junction.
The brushfire was surrounded by fire breaks and the road was re-opened by 10:30 p.m.
Fire crews continued mop-up operations over the next few days.
Fire officials say there are several areas that crews are avoiding due to possible unexploded ordinance in the area.
Roadways remain open and personnel will continue to monitor the fire scene.
