In order to win the popular Hilo Casting Club Tournament crown, a local fisherman need only to haul in the biggest ulua from the waters off the Big Island of Hawaii.
Angler Scott Yamamoto brought in the two biggest ulua, just to make sure he took first place.
Yamamoto’s big fish weighed in at 78.4 and 79.1 pounds, respectively.
Either weight beat out the next biggest catch by well over 10 pounds.
The rather bashful Yamamoto said little about his catch, but did indicate he reeled these monsters in somewhere down south along the shores of Ka`u.
The Hilo Casting Club tournament is in its 34th year. The weigh-in was held at the Naniloa Volcanoes Resort in Hilo, and was MC’d by radio personality, Darrin Carlson.
