A break in the clouds and ice that has been covering cameras on the summit of Mauna Kea on has revealed a winter wonderland.
The same storm that dumped a deluge of rain on the east side of Hawaii’s Big Island has also blanketed Mauna Kea in deep snow.
Mauna Kea Access Road was closed to the public at Hale Pohaku due to ice and snow. It is expected to be closed early Sunday morning but may reopen in the early afternoon if enough snow is melted by the sun.
