(BIVN) – The Hilo Jaycees 58th Hawaii County Fair began Thursday and runs through Sunday on the grounds of the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.
Rides, music and food delight local families. Different contests like the smoke meat contest, hip hop dance competition, the “Glutton Bowl” eating competition, and Battle of the Bands are held throughout the weekend.
This year’s theme is “Celebrating the spirit of aloha & ohana”. Wildlife and agricultural wonders await in the Hamakua Butler Building.
The Hilo Jaycees is the second oldest chapter in Hawaii, and also holds an annual Easter Egg Hunt and Salvation Army Thanksgiving luncheon.
