(BIVN) – Hawaii County police officer Erich Jackson is the “Officer of the Year” for 2008.
The Kona Crime Prevention Committee honored Jackson on Wednesday during a luncheon at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.
Jackson was twice named “Officer of the Month” this year, which made him eligible for the 2008 award. In both February and June, Jackson was honored for his efforts in separate cases that resulted in arrests and involved the recovery of methamphetamine.
10 other officers, awarded “Officer of the Month” between July 2007 and June 2008, were nominated: Officer Richard Nery, Detective Zachary Houchin, Detective Scott Kurashige, Officer Ellsworth Fontes Jr., Detective Kenneth Quiocho, Officer Thomas Shopay, Detective Sharlotte Bird, Officer Jody Passmore, Officer Gregorio Antolin, and Officer Luke Watkins.
The Kona Crime Prevention Committee “encourages community involvement in aiding and supporting the Kona District Police Department in their efforts to prevent crime, deter potential criminals and enforce the law.”
