(BIVN) – It is the news that beekeepers and farmers have been dreading to hear… the destructive varroa bee mite has been discovered in Hilo. The mite can kill an entire colony in weeks, and spreads easily. The impact on local agriculture could be disastrous. Hawaii Department of Agriculture Entomologist Patrick Conant explains the developing situation.
