(BIVN) – Kealoha Pisciotta of Mauna Kea Anaina Hou, a protector of Mauna Kea and petitioner opposed to the planned Thirty Meter Telescope, sat down for an interview this weekend to talk about her view of Mayor Harry Kim’s “Vision for Maunakea”, which the mayor explained in a previous interview with Big Island Video News.
Pisciotta says they sat down with the mayor early on in his process of formulating the vision statement, but she says they told him they could not support his effort because it envisioned a future that included TMT on the mountain.
This is part one of our interview. Big Island Video News also plans to post a segment in which Pisciotta talks about a recent trip to California to meet with the Gordon & Betty Moore Foundation, one of the primary donors to the TMT project, in the hope they might change the foundation’s position.
