(BIVN) – The election-eve tradition continues tonight with the Grand Rally of the Democratic Party in Hilo. Democrats sent this media release:
It was 64 Years ago, in 1954, when the young, vibrant and hopeful Democratic Party, unable to secure the Hilo Armory for its pre-election rally, chose to move the celebration to the Mo’oheau Bandstand. The following day, the Democratic Party achieved their state-wide “revolution” and the rest is history.
This Monday, November 5, 2018,the eve of Election Day, The Hawaii County Democratic Party will once again light up the Mo’oheau Bandstand in downtown Hilo as we host the historic Hilo Democratic Grand Rally to celebrate our Party and our candidates.
Come join the fun at the bandstand. Show your support for our Democratic candidates and listen to them for one last time prior to the General Election. An uplifting and patriotic program is planned for the evening. Special guests for this historic event will be Senator Mazie Hirono, Senator Brian Schatz, Representative Tulsi Gabbard, and our gubernatorial slate; Governor David Ige and State Senator Josh Green. Former Governor Neil Abercrombie will close the event, as only Neil can, with his stirring oratory.
Traditional sign-waving along Kamehameha Avenue will begin at 3:30; sign-wavers and other members of the public will be “summoned” to the Bandstand by Hui Okinawa Kobudo Taiko drummers at 5:00. Come and join the excitement and hear the final speeches from the candidates, all of whom have worked tirelessly for months to gain your trust, your confidence, and your vote.
If there are any questions concerning this event, please contact Hawaii County Democratic chair, Shannon Matson (937-3037).
