(BIVN) – The Senate Judiciary Committee invited Attorney General Jeff Sessions back to the witness stand for an “Oversight of the U.S. Department of Justice” hearing in Washington on Wednesday.
“Some have complained that you weren’t up here earlier. I thought you should have your team in place before appearing before us,” said committee chair Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) in an opening statement.
Senator Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) took the opportunity to question Sessions on a variety of topics. She asked the AG about the emoluments clause lawsuit, the firing of former FBI Director James Comey, consent decrees, Session’s religious liberty memorandum, LGBTQ rights, DACA, and the Hawaii federal district court’s ruling on Trump’s travel ban.
