(BIVN) – There were no injuries reported in a 5:02 a.m. structure fire that burnd a 5-compartment metal frame warehouse in the Kohanaiki Industrial area off Hulikoa Street in North Kona on Monday.
The Hawaii County Fire Department says the fire occurred at Diamond Auto Works. Firefighters arrived at the scene to find one compartment of the warehouse was fully involved, and the blaze had spread to 2 connected warehouse bays. Two of 5 bays were saved with the other three suffering total loss to contents and significant structural damage, a fire dispatch reports.
Fire officials say the building is occupied by a vehicle towing business, a storage and restoration business, and a trailer sales businesses.
Fire companies from Kailua-Kona, Makalei, Keauhou, South Kohala as well as a Battalion Chief out of Waikoloa worked to extinguish a structure fire. A road block was set up on Hulikoa St.
The fire under investigation, officials say, and the cause is undetermined at this time.
