HILO, Hawaii: In today’s Hilo report, the so called “Occupy Hilo” movement – an offshoot of the current Occupy Wall Street uprising – took to the streets on Saturday.
Hilo and other parts of Hawaii Island joined in a global show of support for the New York based protests.
We first filmed this group of protesters a few weeks ago, as the group lined the streets of Kilauea Avenue in front of Merrill Lynch building in support of the Occupy Wall Street movement.
They were at it agina, in the rain, this past Saturday.
We later caught up with others at the Mooheau Bandstand, where the group talked story about what appears to be a growing nationwide movement.
And be sure to join us tomorrow, when we have present some video from the 13th annual Taste of Hilo held on Sunday… which drew familiar faces from around town… and beyond.
